Feature Overview

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Split Test E-mails allows for you to perform an A/B split test on two different sequences. This is performed by randomly sending contacts to one of the two sequences and tagging the contact with route A or B. Once the contact has achieved the goal (purchase, opt in etc) and a unique conversion tag is applied, PlusThis will track the number of conversions that resulted from each track. The Split Test will end after a specified number of conversions or on a specified date.

How to set up the Feature

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_tta_tabs active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Infusionsoft” tab_id=”1494369330301-9ec9f34f-03ca”][vc_column_text]

  1. Enter the sequence trigger tag for each sequence you would like to split test. If you do not have a tag already created in Infusionsoft, you can create one through PlusThis in your Infusionsoft, just select “Add New Tag” and inside of the pop up create a new tag.   —— Repeat this process for each page you would like to split test.
  2. Select which tag indicates the success of the test. This can be a tag that is applied after a purchase, after an opt in or whatever the goal of your split test is. This tag NEEDS to be unique to the test as the number of contact records in Infusionsoft that have the specified tags all count toward the number of total conversions. If you do not have a completely unique tag already created for this in Infusionsoft, you can create one through PlusThis, just select “Add New Tag” and inside of the pop up, create a new tag.
  3. Choose what criteria (aka. how many conversions) before a winning page is selected, select if you would like the “winner” to be chosen after a period of time or after a certain number of conversions.
  4. Name and save the feature.
  5. You will use the URL provided by PlusThis in HTTP post inside of your Infusionsoft sequence. Click the link to copy the URL and paste it into the HTTP post.

To implement this feature, place the HTTP post that PlusThis provides you at the point in your campaign where you want the split test to take place.

Feature Tip

The two sequences that are labeled Test A sequence and Test B sequence should be almost identical, aside from the different e-mail.

— Both split testing sequences should be connected to your goal. Once the goal is achieved, you will want to tag the contact to indicate a successful conversion.

— The HTTP post will go in a sequence that every contact goes through (before the point you would like to split test the pages.) When the contact hits the post PlusThis takes over and applies either tag A or tag B – (The start goal for the two sequences) thus firing off one sequence or the other.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ontraport” tab_id=”1520578016582-5e9e70e3-9db8″][vc_column_text]This feature is not available for Ontraport[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Drip” tab_id=”1520578016681-b9c31334-d9bf”][vc_column_text]This feature is not available for Drip.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”HubSpot” tab_id=”1520578016790-5e7f61f5-4f8b”][vc_column_text]This feature is not available for HubSpot.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”ActiveCampaign” tab_id=”1521153017749-0ceb9c5b-18d8″][vc_column_text]This feature is not available for ActiveCampaign.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Depending on the number of contact records you have, this could be done over the course of one or multiple tests. The Split Test feature is definitely not meant to handle a large amount of simultaneous traffic (More than 8k-10k).
The purpose of split testing is to determine which of your campaigns/pages does the best job of converting prospects to customers. We recommend that you perform your split test(s) on small groups of records, to determine which of your campaigns performs best, and then remove the test and promote your best-performing campaign to your list. This will ensure you maximize conversions. This feature should never be used on tests involving more than 10,000 records.

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I just started my Split Test – why is everyone going down only one path?”]

This is most likely due to the conversion tag already being applied to a number of contacts in your Infusionsoft account. Check to make sure that your Conversion tag is unique. It’s important that this tag not be used anywhere else in your campaigns. This is a single tag that is applied when someone converts, whether that’s after clicking a link, watching a video (using video triggers) or purchasing a product. Make sure this tag is ONLY used in the split test.
